Symantec Endpoint Protection combines machine learning, memory exploit mitigation and threat intelligence provided by Symantec and Blue Coat, which combined their research and security operations in October after Symantec completed the acquisition of Blue Coat for $4.6 billion. It delivers a multi-layered solution able to stop advanced threats and respond at the endpoint regardless of how the attack is launched.
According to Symantec, the latest cybersecurity solution offers 99.9% efficacy, low false positives and a 70% reduced footprint over the previous generation by integrating cloud lookup functions. In 2015, Symantec reported more than 430 million new pieces of malware and expects that figure will grow this year.
Announced on Tuesday, the new security offering is powered by AI and machine learning on the endpoint and in the cloud.
· Integration with existing infrastructure through published APIs enables seamless management of thousands of endpoints in multiple locations and across diverse operating systems and platforms.
Increased access to Symantec's intelligent threat cloud technology can reduce daily download of updates by 70%, the company said. The firm's Endpoint Protection 14 marks the lightest and strongest endpoint protection Symantec has on the market, "providing everything from file reputation and behavioral analysis to advanced machine learning Al", the company says.
"Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 is an essential element of an integrated cyber defense strategy that enterprises require to combat today's advanced threats". "Nearly every possible attack surface is covered when buyers utilize the full extent of this portfolio".
