Ben Affleck says he went for the role of Batman is because he hated his previous superhero movie, Daredevil. In a new interview with Deadline as he leaves his job, he said that "in 2018, there is a second Fantastic Beasts film, and Ready Player One feels like an ambitious movie by the world's best filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, that will set the world on fire".
But Batfans who didn't dig either of those movies might sense the irony in Ben's attempt to rectify a bad career move by doing them.
Affleck confirmed that "The Batman" will begin shooting in the spring.
But has Warner Bros' outgoing president of creative development and worldwide production - Greg Silverman - just given the game away?
He reprised the role for a cameo in Suicide Squad and will soon star in the upcoming Justice League movie, ahead of Batman's own film, which he will direct and co-write. I'm definitely going to make sure I have something that is special-there's not enough money in the world to make a mediocre version of Batman worth it.
2018 is going to be a insane year for movies. They delayed Batman v Superman from the Summer of 2015 to the Spring of 2016 because they thought it needed more time (it probably also needed a different script and director, but they couldn't delay it that much longer...).
The official announcement has yet to be made, and Ben Affleck has been going back and forth as of late regarding whether or not his Batman movie is actually happening (it is).
