"Bruised hip, a hip pointer", Davis told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk, describing his injury.
In a game whose storyline was dominated by Derrick Rose's mysterious absence, Anthony Davis quietly went about his business Monday night, and lit up the freefalling Knicks at MSG to the tune of 40 points and 18 rebounds.
It's always a little bit concerning when a new issue pops up for the oft-injured Davis, but the Pelicans have a couple of days off before taking on the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, so we'll have a better idea of his status for that game later in the week. Still, anytime Anthony Davis goes flying into the stands Pelicans fans should hold their breath.
Officials determined that O'Quinn's foul was a flagrant foul 2, which led to his automatic ejection with 1:16 remaining in the third quarter. Getting flagrantly fouled by Kyle O'Quinn right before he was about to leave a blowout win certainly qualifies for the later category. I really didn't look at it yet.
"Obviously it is going to be sore", Gentry said. I don't think [O'Quinn] is a dirty player by any stretch of the imagination. "[The officials] thought it was over the top".
As a result of the play, Davis left the game and underwent an x-ray on his hip that ended up being negative.
