Alleged new lovebirds Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have holed up, Page Six has exclusively learned, at the celebrity spot We Care Spa in Desert Hot Springs, Calif. They had been spotted entering and leaving the same hotel room in Matera in Southern Italy throughout the shooting schedule and have been spending time together since the film wrapped, a source says, adding that they "found love on set".
We're hearing that despite Miz Mara's movie Lion being nominated for four Golden Globes on Sunday, she opted to instead spend time "holed up together in the desert" with the 42-year-old.
Rooney was in a relationship for six years with Charlie McDowell but they haven't been seen together since August.
Despite Page Six's report, Joaquin's representative has denied the actor and Rooney are anything apart from "good friends".
"They worked on Her, Mary Magdalene and [their] next movie [Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot]".
As awesome as this sounds, a rep for Joaquin denied that he and Rooney were dating to the outlet, stating that they are just "good friends" who have worked on a number of projects together. He hit headlines in 2014 when he announced he was engaged to a yoga instructor who had helped him "harness his hog", but it was later revealed to be an unusual joke.
