Mel B breaks character, goes all Spice Girls during Broadway show

The former Spice Girl sent fans wild when she interrupted her scripted scene to begin her rap from the band's 1996 debut single Wannabe during her final turn as Roxie Hart at the Ambassador Theatre in NY. According to People, Mel began an eight-week run in the role in December, on the heels of her stint as a judge on America's Got Talent.

New York City was in for a treat last night when Mel B broke out into her Spice Girls hit "Wannabe" while on stage in Chicago the Musical.

In the clip, while strutting across the stage as Roxie - Mel casually dropped her infamous, "So here's the story from A-Z", from her rap in Wannabe to rapturous applause.

"Here is a snippet of me last night doing my last show In @chicagomusical playing Roxie heart breaking character busting out some spice power haha #nyc #broadwaybaby", she captioned the video. The crowd roared in approval, clearly loving the throwback moment.

Whether Mel B will continue to appear in Broadway shows is unclear, but after her Scary Spice tease, she likely has fans hoping for a Spice Girls musical - wouldn't that be a way to celebrate their 20th anniversary?

The former Spice Girl is no stranger to Broadway, having played Mimi in Rent in 2005.

Mel C and Victoria Beckham will not be taking part.
