For the Warriors, Kevin Durant's return can't come soon enough.
In Durant's absence, the Warriors have gone 5-5 and are now on a three-game winning streak after comfortable home victories over the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. Haynes reported Saturday that head coach Steve Kerr "isn't sure if Durant will sit on the bench for either game, noting that the All-Star has been behind closed doors getting treatment during the home games he has attended since he suffered the injuries".
"He's clearly making progress".
Durant is expected to travel with the team on its upcoming road trip, which includes a game against his former Oklahoma City Thunder squad. According to ESPN, the Warriors organization was furious that the Thunder brass did little to ease tensions before the two teams' February 11 game. Many fans in the crowd wore "cupcake" T-shirts and chanted "soft" at Durant, who finished with 34 points in the win. The NBA has reduced back-to-back sets in recent years and will improve the schedule further next season by adding a week to the 82-game schedule, but the Warriors still wound up with the most air miles of any team this season.
After Durant went down against the Wizards, the Warriors' public relations department said he would be re-evaluated in four weeks.
