If you've been waiting anxiously to find out what the company is going to unveil then you'll be disappointed to find out that it's not a new device. Much to our surprise, and an unwelcoming one, we got another U Ultra phone that does not feature a Snapdragon 835 but retains the same hardware as the one present in the previous version. Forget the fact that we don't even fully know that an HTC 11 will ever show up because the U line is supposed to be the company's new, new going forward, but that's just absurd. The surprise is actually a premium version of the HTC U Ultra that is covered in sapphire.
HTC's limited edition U Ultra picks up 128GB storage and a sapphire-coated display for an additional $150. That's NT$5,000 ($160) more than the regular U Ultra 64GB, though early customers will also get a leather case worth $100.
Last week, HTC teased an "unexpected" announcement.
This particular color option has only been announced for customers in Taiwan at this point in time so it's unclear if and when HTC is going to offer in markets other than its home country.
