■ TTV Dinakaran has to appear in Economic Offences Court on Thursday, CNN-News18 reported.
He was reacting to the ministers' decision late last night to keep away Sasikala, Dhinakaran and their families from the AIADMK and the affairs of its government. OPS announced that delinking TTV Dinakaran and VK Sasikala from the party was the first victory for them.
AIADMK leader Dinakaran, a nephew of jailed party chief V.K. Sasikala, was accused of trying to bribe the Election Commission with crores of rupees to reclaim the party's disputed and now frozen "two leaves" symbol.
He, however, claimed the rebellion against him was out of "fear". "I do not know why they took such a decision". "A series of raids by central agencies (at Health Minister Vijaybaskar's properties) and the case against Dinakaran forced them to come to us for shelter", he claimed. "We have submitted all this to the Election Commission yesterday and asked to inquire into the matter", Panneerselvam said.
"I wonder what the apprehension is about".
Ruling out any change of chief minister in the state for this possible patch up, Thambidurai said people from the opposing faction may be included in the organisation. "I will have to consult Sasikala on resigning as she appointed me as Deputy General Secretary", he said.
He reiterated that AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran and his successor Jayalalithaa led the party as a movement of cadres.
In a setback to the Congress ahead of the April 23 civic polls, former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and former Youth Congress leader Amit Malik quit the party and joined the BJP on Tuesday. We wanted the doubts to be cleared on Jayalalithaa's death. Responding to a question about joining hands with Panneerselvam, he said, "It is a separate issue and we desire to be united and retrieve the two-leaves symbol".
He said he had sent a petition to the Election Commission to declare Sasikala's appointment as AIADMK general secretary "illegal".
He, however, insisted the appointment of Sasikala and himself to the top party posts was made with the "consent" of others and that none was "bypassed".
The developments added to the woes of Sasikala - Dhinakaran's aunt. "How can someone inside the jail be informed", he asked.
