Empire Magazine has now officially released the new Alien: Covenant images from their latest issue, and they come with a bit of gore and a potentially major spoiler. The images, exclusive to Empire, tease the new film in the franchise that is set for a release on May 19.
Well, her butt-kicking heroine might be back in one of Ridley Scott's planned sequels to next month's Alien: Covenant thanks to cinematic "de-aging".
In a previous interview, Scott gave the smallest of hints about bringing the popular Ripley character alive through computer generated images sometime during his Alien prequels.
One shows a figure overseeing a large group of pods as they are dropped on to a planet.
The first image looks like a flashback with either Walter or David (both robots played by Michael Fassbender) with Peter Weyland. "And we know where we're going with it". Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, risky world - whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. "When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape", a synopsis said.
The film stars Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Billy Crudup and Amy Seimetz.
Alien: Covenant opens May 19th.
