BOSTON - The Cleveland Cavaliers set a slate of records against the historic Boston Celtics franchise with their 130-86 Game 2 victory in the Eastern Conference finals Friday night.
Boston coach Brad Stevens said Thomas originally aggravated a nagging right hip injury during Game 6 last Friday in the second-round series against the Washington Wizards and underwent a batch of testing before playing in Boston's Game 7 win Monday night. The Cavaliers won their two home games against Boston in the regular season by six points apiece but the Celtics haven't played in Cleveland since December 29. "It wasn't as bad as I thought it was", said Lue, who was asking for a review for a potential flagrant. We understand that this is a good team.
"It's honestly just embarrassing", guard Avery Bradley said.
James racked up 30 points, four rebounds and seven assists before he was withdrawn at the end of the third quarter but the game was over as a contest long before his departure as the Cavs took a tight hold on the best-of-seven series.
It was the biggest playoff win ever for the Cavaliers, while being the Celtics' worst home playoff loss in franchise history. "Move" and he hit a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers.
James and Love again did whatever they wanted against the defenders the Celtics put in front of them, scoring 30 and 21 points, respectively.

Asked where his team goes from here, Stevens wryly responded, "Cleveland".
That one was critical to clinching Cleveland's first championship since the Browns won the National Football League title in 1964.
After outsprinting the Cavaliers to the No. 1 seed in the East and home-court advantage in the final weeks of the season, the Celtics squandered it by losing both games in Boston - without ever having a lead.
"No one's pointing fingers", Horford said. "We've worked really hard and put ourselves in this position to be here. It's definitely a low point for our group".
The next two games are at home, so while we could see Boston putting on a huge effort after this game, no one at this point thinks Boston can come back from two straight epic beatdowns.
NOTES: The Celtics made one lineup change, starting G/F Gerald Green in place of F Amir Johnson.
Thomas missed all six of his field goal attempts and scored two points in 17 minutes.
